From the moment she was
born, I knew she was special.
The story behind "Nell's"
birth is quite interesting. She was the last one to be born and
her mom "Grace" thought she had to go 'outside' after
whelping 6 other puppies. Who was I to argue :) So off we
went, outside, towel in hand (just in case).
And sure enough, when we got outside, Grace decided that she
really didn't have to go after all, she just had to have a
puppy...*S. So Nell was literally born outside.
We brought her
inside, all wrapped up in a towel and Grace took over with her
motherly instincts.

Even though she was the last one
born in a
litter of 7, she was the first one to figure out how to climb out of the
whelping box at the tender age of 3 weeks.
After she figured out how to get out, I
had a hard time keeping her in the box...*S.
I had kept her until she was almost 9
months of age because I couldn't make up my mind on who to
keep.....her or her sister "Classi".
I went through several homes, but none
seemed "just right" for either one. Then one day I received a phone
call from Ingrid Friedenson in Vermont, USA.
After several contacts,
Ingrid decided out of the 2 girls, she wanted Nell. I also had a
feeling of comfort that this was the "right home".

Hence my decision was made
and the story began.......
She finished her
Championship in the US in 4
weekends and in Canada in 2 weekends with multiple breed wins.
She
became the foundation of
Waldenmark Belgian Tervuren.
She is the mother of several
American as well as Canadian Champions, with multiple Group Placers, Group
Winners, a daughter who won Best In Specialty and who was the #5 Belgian
in Canada for 2000 !
Also Obedience titled offspring.
In June 2001, she became a
Grandmother to 5 girls and 3 boys, making our "Grace" - BIS Can
Ch Gemfire's Poetry In Motion, a Great Grandmother !

Needless to say, she was a
very special girl with a noble and gentle nature and the instincts to do
things "just right".
Even though she is gone now,
Her legacy lives on in her kids and
grandkids as well as our memory. She will be
greatly missed from all who knew and loved her.
Ingrid
& Jay, my heart goes out to you as I know how truly special she was! Beverley
